GENERAL

The Westbury PSB panel faces south and is laid out accordingly, so the 'Up' side (towards London) is on the left of the diagram, and the 'Down' side to the right.

Note the reversal of Up and Down on the Trowbridge lines.

The scale used on the track diagram is not uniform. In particular, plain track towards the edges of the diagram is compressed to 30-40% of the length of equivalent distances elsewhere.

RUNNING AND PLATFORM LINES

The through Platform lines (Lines 1-3), the Down Reception line and the Up Reception line between signals 211 and 502 are signalled for bidirectional working. Trains may use these lines in either direction.

Passenger and other trains of classes 1,2,3 and 5 may use any of the 3 platforms. The capacity of platforms is as follows:

Platform No. of Coaches

	1 11
	2 11
	3 11

Permissive working of trains of classes 1,2,3 and 5 is permitted on platform lines - i.e. 2 trains may use the same platform, subject to capacity.

Freight trains stopping at Westbury (mainly to change crew or for pathing purposes) may use any of the following designated stopping places:

Down Reception:
	opposite station platforms

Up Reception:
	opposite station platforms
in rear of signal 207 (Up trains only)

Freight trains may also use the station platforms for short stops, but may not terminate or originate there.

Scheduled light engine movements may use any of the above stopping places and may also terminate/originate in the platforms. Light locos and empty coaching stock (class 5) may enter the DMU Sidings.

Additional stopping and originating points for freight trains and light engines are the Up Trowbridge Siding (beyond signal 720), the Down Trowbridge Siding, the Down Yard No.1 Siding and the Cement Siding. Freight trains may be routed to/from the Up or Down Yards.

Wrong Direction movements over running lines are NOT permitted for scheduled passenger and other trains of classes 1,2,3 and 5.

The capacities of sidings, etc, are as follows:-

Line/Siding No. of Wagons

Down Reception 40
Up Reception 22
 (between sigs 211 & 602)
Up Reception 58
 (to signal 207)
Up Trowbridge Siding 52
Dn Trowbridge Siding 8
Cement Siding 44
Shunt Spur 19

These capacities allow for 1 loco; capacities for trains of classes 1-5 are half the above figures.
