Six routes converged on Shrewsbury so it was a very busy and interesting railway hub. The simulation depicts the layout in the immediate postwar period and includes the many goods yards in the area in addition to the passenger station.

The timetable supplied demonstrates the service in 1949/50, when freight still played a prominent rôle. Many trains, both passenger and freight, changed engines here so there were many movements to and from the two loco sheds.
