Another fascinating simulation, featuring a very busy "mixed-used" section of the West Coast Main Line. Fast expresses and slow freight trains use the same tracks, so that any late running will have a knock-on effect on all other trains.
The simulation includes a long stretch of the main line, including Lancaster (21 miles north of Preston) and Carnforth, as well as the Morecambe branch and the Skipton line to beyond Giggleswick.
There are several passing loops which may have to be used to prevent delays to faster trains and careful regulation is therefore very important. A most interesting simulation.
The layout and signalling is as introduced in 1973; the timetable is based on Wednesdays during early May 2009, a full day's timetable, 263 trains.
North Lancashire 2009 is one of our Modern Series simulations.
This simulation runs using our PC-Rail Plus software.
