Manningtree

Manningtree, a small and picturesque town on the river River Stour atthe eastern edge of Dedham Vale, is a railway location full of interest. Situatedon the Great Eastern main line between Colchester and Ipswich it has a triangular junction on the Down side of thestation giving access to the Harwich branch.

The 1953 timetable features a great variety of traffic, with regular express services from Liverpool Street to Norwich and continental boat trains serving Harwich Parkeston Quay, including the "Hook Continental" connecting with the night ferry to Hoek van Holland. There is a regular local passenger service to Harwich Town and plenty of freight traffic too.

Manningtree is one of our Heritage Series simulations.
