This fine Heritage simulation is set on the Great Western main line from Plymouth and Paddington (282 miles away) to Truro and Penzance. Par is also the junction for the branch line to the Atlantic coast at Newquay.
The layout is as it was in the 1950s; Par signal box, opened in 1879, was one of the last mechanical signal boxes in England, closing only in 2024.
The Summer 1959 timetable which is included covers a full 24 hours. Some of the main line expresses have recently been taken over by Warship diesels, whilst all other services are steam-hauled by ex-GWR locos. Passenger services run Up from Penzance through Plymouth to London, and some to South Wales, the Midlands and beyond. In addition there are the branch line trains to Newquay and also quite a lot of freight traffic to be fitted in.
